A doula is a professionally trained person who provides continuous emotional, physical, and informational support during pregnancy, birth, and the immediate postpartum hours.
Using evidence-based education, we will make a birth plan that suits your family. I strive to encourage self-advocacy, informed choices, and great communication between the birthing person, family, and care providers.
During labor, I will utilize hands-on techniques and assistance in positions to decrease discomfort. Your partner will be encouraged to assist as they feel comfortable while also sharing this experience with you.
Research has shown the following benefits of having a doula assisted birth:
reduced risk of cesarean sections
less epidural requests
less reported anxiety and pain
increased birth satisfaction
decreased risk of postpartum depression
The transition into parenthood can be a difficult and vulnerable time. As your postpartum doula, I will provide emotional support, evidence-based information, and hands on help.
